Wetsuits and Drysuits
If you plan to dive in cold water, you will need a dry suit. Likewise, if you plan to dive in warm water, you will need a wet suit. Alternatively, you can purchase a semi-dry suit. You should try on many different suits prior to purchasing one to ensure that it fits you properly and that it best fits your needs under the water.

Other Items
Other scuba diving gear that beginners like to purchase after their first few dives include a snorkel, weight belt, knife, torches, and a SMB or surface market-buoy.

Try renting various brands and styles of scuba diving gear over five to ten dives. This way you can try out what is available in the marketplace to help you judge which purchases you will want to make.

Salt and sand crystals can harden your equipment and make it rust. These crystals also act as abrasives and can make small holes in your equipment.
